Dave,
It's a closure, nothing more. No matter what you use, the purpose
is to protect what's inside the bottle. The cork was the best there
was at the time it came into use. But there are better methods today,
and I feel that the screw cap is certainly better. I could care less
what will happen 10 or 20 years down the road. I never plan on holding
your wine that long anyway (Lord knows, might not be alive that long!).
You make it to drink and enjoy, not to sit in a dark dusty cellar for 20
years. I say it's a step forward and fully embrace the idea.
