Thanks to Dave and Pat for hosting the tasting of our 1998 "Futures Order," now in barrel. What can I say? Dave's wines just seem to be getting better and better. (I do know that the grapes have something to do with that. ;-)
We also got to taste Dave's first venture into a dry white: Sauvignon
Blanc. This is one of the "driest" whites I've encountered in a long time.
Yet it is already well balanced and smooth, without *ANY* of the acid "bite"
often
associated with dry white wines. The nose was characteristically
Sauvignon Blanc. I found this wine to be already subtle, and not
with blooming fruit or vanilla or over-powering oak. It's going to
be an "interesting" wine in the bottle. I think Dave plans to bottle
it in a month or so. I won't try to rate it from the barrel tasting,
but suffice it to say we ordered a case and a half! <g>
Dave and Pat: thanks again for a wonderfull visit!!!
