I must have missed an introduction on Saturday evening, I was one of the guys with a ZAP hat who hung out behind the tasting bar. In any event, as you said, a lot of great bottles on Saturday night, the '94 Estate Cuvee (I must have missed the '94 Zin, or did you mean the Estate Cuvee??) was really fine, one of the best bottles of that I've ever had of that particular wine. As seems to be usual at a "Pat and Dave Party," way, way too many great bottles open, which made "lingering" over most of them darn near impossible (plus I was the designated driver and had to spit all evening).
Other particularly memorable bottles for me were the '95 Michael Watts (homemade) Zinfandel from Coffaro Vineyard fruit, wow, that one was really special, right at peak, and I think Michael's '97 commercial release may some day get to that level also. I too loved the '96 Turkey Flat Barossa Shiraz, incredibly extracted and intense, almost exotic in a sense, great wine!! And finally, the Italian Moscato that Melanie brought and opened late was really incredible and refreshing!!
Oh, and don't forget the great ribs that Steve Ryan bbq'd for us. . . .
Next time I'll make it a point to introduce myself. . . .
