As I said, it is a thing that one can argue either way. I certainly understand your wanting to see the estate wines year after year, even if there are more and more Neighbors wines to compare them with, but I guess I see his dilemma in a year like this one where he seems uncertain about the outcome with straight estate Zin as similar to that of a port maker who may or may not choose to declare in a given year depending on whether the result will be good enough. Or, more to the point, a winemaker with a traditional single vineyard label in a year when he or she believes the quality just wont be equal to the reputation of that label and so that year the no single vineyard designation is produced.
