Yesterday was a very important day. Richard, Lynda's husband, was helped with Cheryl, A niece I was the closest to. Which made it a little less stressful, she has the greatest smile and Richard wanted yesterday to be a celebration, wow, that helped!!!!!!!

So they picked a great Unitarian church. I got up and made a speech, and Richard her husband did a greater job, my opinion. It was so hard for me, but my ankle did not hurt much until to day so it still hurts after 2 weeks!! So I need to see a MD, for something!! My sister had a wound on her leg when she died. We do not know if that contributed to her death. So I must see a specialist for my ankle.........OH she did die in her sleep. I am always a wake a little at night so I do not know if that could happen to me, but if it did, that would be more peaceful

So in the last few days, my swelling did not go down. I went to my cardiologist, the last time I saw him was Oct. He is not a foot doctor but he said Go To The ER! So no one has helped me recently so I did stop at the Healdsburg ER, just on the way home, 8 miles from us..........

OH and a Doc came out within minutes. He was animated and said "We are busy in the back for a few minutes, he ginned and said there are some little ones making a lot of noises." OH then he said, "You have Gout......yes you have Gout!". Why has this taken so long, so I figured he was wrong. What caused this OK.........I thought, it is the ER and I have been there two times in the past, I was prepared for 1,2? Hours? Then another Doc came by within minutes, took me back and within 15 minutes I was out of there with 2 prescriptions...........Colchicine and indomethacin....the swelling and pain has gone down a little....................I need some THC

I am back, did I tell you my cardiologist wants me to stop all my favorite foods.........long story, maybe tomorrow.........oh and there is TSLA.......tomorrow is another day.........

I am getting concerned!! My Swollen ankle has moved to my toe, I do not have elevated Uric acid so it could be something different. I am scheduled to see a Podiatrist on Monday so I will hear what he says.............

So concerns, the prescription for Colchicine finally came in but since It took 3 from Catarino, Mexican pills, which are stronger Oh, NOW they want to stop it.......OK, but I am more concerned about my vitals!!

I had a paper ass today for now 8 times, has anyone had it that long.....??? So sure I could be dehydrated...not if I have any input of 6 glasses of water today, oh I know I should have more???

OK, to my vitals: Blood Pressure is fine 120/60, My temp is 95.1, serious, then even more interesting my pulse is 48!! Look it up, combined, I should go to the ER.....

8pm........I am still functioning and just took a hit, I know?? What are you doing, Dave?? But, confusing, here are my readings at 7:30pm: Blood Pressure 76/45 and pulse 73! I am always that low with BP after a hit, so not concerned AND today while in my straights of HELL, I had a pulse of 48 and a temp of 95.1 but now tonight I just see, I am alive with a reading of 97.5.

 I need to live another day to buy more TSLA

I know most of you want to hear about what is going on in the winery.......BUT.......I have said many times before This Is My Diary of life......

OK, first for you only winery people: We racked all our 2023 wines so I will have an update of what we will be doing and when we will be bottling.....

SO.......The podiatrist says I have a collapsed foot because of my flat feet. I was born with flat feet , like my Father. He was not required to fight over seas because he had flat feet. I have lived with them, but sure could not run as fast as others. So I suppose over all these 81 years, it has caused a distribution of my ankle. He showed me an xray where the ankle bone has fallen down to the left so he thinks that is causing the swelling BUT why did it come on all of a sudden??

Surgery would correct it, but I would be in a cast for two weeks and have it elevated. No way I would do that! The recovery would be months. I could also try a boot they could make but as you know I will not even where shoes. The swelling has actually gone down and the pain is less so I asked why the swelling has gone down and he had no answer. I think he thinks it will get worse.............

I am not doing a boot, I do not think this could come on all of a sudden on one night, like I got up the next morning in April 3 the day after Lynda died, I had the biggest swelling and then it did not get worse, classic injury, so did I have a bad night and tweak my foot?? I asked him why it did not get worse and he had no input. I have no problem with the pain so I did get inserts to raise my arch. We will see. I was told I can exercise now, because they do not want you to do it when you have Gout. I am happy if I did not have Gout, but this is very confusing....

I did a lot of foot exercises today and I think most of the pain has gone away, is it because I am relieved, or did I need exercises?.......I am still Confused! What caused this??? The easy answer is...........I Am Old......81 on May 3rd............

Gee, now I have no pain in my ankle so what caused this. I sure do not think it is a sudden collapse of my ankle, what the Quack (SP) podiatrist said on Monday last week. He did not even know who Mayorga was AND she was my primary Doctor who refereed me to him so now looking back, he was wrong!! There is no way a person of my age could have a collapsed arch, it was collapsed already when I was born. Yes over the years this, guy Dave was born with Flat Feet and has worked over 80 years on my foot to make it worse, but what I have read, the collapsed ankle, foot, would not happen all of a sudden. So the bottom line is no one knows what caused this large swelling on my ankle, I hope to go on and make great wine......

Did I say I am going to make a Super Tuscan style wine, maybe, I already make a lot of Italiano and French blends so  should I make another, give me suggestions. Harvest is 4 months away!! ....We will have a lot of Cab, Nebbiolo coming on in the next 2 years............

May 3rd, soon to be my 81st Birthday!! So we are off to the Monterrey Aquarian for the weekend!

I am making a new blend, I must admit it is just a change of varietals in one of my favorite wines, The Ultimate Cuvee...........

So in the past I have not said what was in The Ultimate Cuvee, it was mostly Block 4. Now it will not include Block 4, I really think Block 4 is too unique to blend something else SO

It will be changed to Cabernet, Sangiovese and Merlot, you can call it a Super Tuscan, I will call it The Ultimate Cuvee, but as usual in almost all our wines, I will give you the percentages.......

I know you saw we are making our first Merlot for 2023. Let's see how you like it but I would like to use it in my UC in the new blend but maybe I can use Cabernet Franc, either one would give the wine a more middle. I think Sangiovese has a beginning and an end, the Cab has all, the beginning, middle and an end, but the Sangiovese has the best finish!!

But this year will be hard because we are just getting more fruit from our bud overs to Cab and Sangiovese. We have plenty of Merlot and Cab Franc, but I want at least 33% Cab and 33% SG.....time will tell.........

Back from a nice Family vacation!

Tonight I am having Lamb and roast potatoes, I know, I am not into red meat much anymore, maybe because my Cardiologist says NO!! I guess the best thing, I can not eat as much red meat these days, but I did enjoy about 2 Rack of Lamb ribs.

I have approved our labels for the 2023 10 month wines. I am excited to try the Merlot again, I only tried a barrel sample and of course the other wine I am so interested to get into bottle is the Sauvignon Blanc mixed with 25% Chardonnay to give it some middle feel and 100% Oak.

For some reason my foot has not swelled up again so one of my best customers suggested I was stressed out the night of my sisters death, that it caused the reaction in my foot, anything is possible, no one else knows WHY!

So it could be something else?

I am enjoying what I do so now it is getting the labels and bottles here so we can bottle our 2023 10 Month aged wine, along with my new Sauvignon Blanc with oak!

Just got back from a scooter run in the vineyard. Too much to relate, but I can say Bloom is near and Catarino and I agree, the old vines look like less crop this year......but

Last year the old vines produced a large crop! But as I have said over the years in this diary, these now 130 year old vines look the same or better than when I moved here in 1979.
