Have you heard of Penfolds Grange, a 2014 one of the most
expensive wines in the world so I bought 2 bottles and
opened one a few days ago. Pat, Susie and I tasted this
great wine and we liked it. Now I did look down in my cellar
and found a few other old wines to compete against this $600
wine. I found 4 other wines including my SOON to be released
2009 Cabernet..................
The test results were interesting and all 3 of us tasted
blind. After 3 days the expensive $600 Australian, Grange
Syrah showed well and after 4 days it is doing fine. It is
intense BUT we all said our 2009 Cab was equal SO
I tasted again tonight and I was amazed, I thought blind, my
2009 was the Grange!! They were both great so do I make good
wine? Sure for me and others, we have the Coffaro
palate......
Now from a customer, he cancelled our club because he
thought the wines had too much fruit.......gee I guess I
lost him since that is what I strive for. He implied he
likes wines made in the past
Should I charge more for my wine??? NOT!!

June has arrived, that means longer days and
also warmer temperatures. We did get over 90 the other day.
It will be cool for a few days and then we should be getting
much warmer. All the grapes in the vineyard are in bloom and
soon we will see little berries.
We have everything ready to bottle our 2022 10 Month wines.
We just need the bottles. They are coming from a new
distributor so I hope everything goes smoothy. Our new
storage building is ready to store the glass. We do not have
lights yet but we do not need them now. We hope to be
finished bottling by the end of the month.

Brad here.... There still is a lot of Covid around and it is
still quite contagious. Dave has come down with it and is
now slowly but surely getting better. We all hope to see him
back at the diary soon.

I am back and I am alive, but my body aches
all over. It is hard to get up so when I do I have to keep
moving otherwise I want to sit down or lay in my bed. The
first few days were worse, starting last Thursday, but the
last 2 days have been better. I will have more to say
tomorrow..........

On June 7 it started with a cough once in
awhile. We were down in Half Moon Bay enjoying the ocean and
we had a nice dinner in the evening. The next day was sunny
and I was outside for some of the time and then my nose
started running and the cough got more often. We had
scheduled a dinner at a high end restaurant and wanted to
take Uber. I had to dress up and as most of you know I do
not like to wear long pants BUT also I started feeling
strange. I was not looking forward to the dinner and I tried
to have a mixed drink I had brought from home and I was
having trouble finishing it. We decided to cancel the dinner
and have some take out.
Then I tried to eat some of the take out pasta and could not
eat any. I knew then it was new chartered time for me. The
only other time I could not eat dinner was when I had an
appendicitis attack and later that evening I had to have an
emergency appendectomy. That night in Half Moon Bay I had a
lot of trouble sleeping.
The next morning Friday the 9th, I had to drive home 100
miles. I was to drop off Pat in S.F. All the way home I had
trouble seeing. My eyes were very
watery so I had to constantly wipe them in order to see.
It was never that concerning, I just kept my eyes on the
rode. I made it home and took the test to find I was
positive. Catalina went out and picked up some drugs for
my cough and sore throat AND Paxlovid which is the
latest drug for treatment of Covid.
That Friday evening I started feeling a little better re: my
sore throat but I could not swallow anything. More
tomorrow........

OK, I tested today and I am negative, but
later this afternoon, I started feeling weird again! My
stomach was upset similar to the other day before testing
positive, like I do not want to eat much again. I did try
some alcohol again tonight with some sausage but it did not
go down well. I hear it is typical to have a small relapse
so I hope tomorrow will be better. Even THC does not help.
BTW, you might have seen TSLA has been up big lately. last
week when I was down in Half Moon Bay, I still was watching
the Market and even though I was not doing well I sold all
my TSLA Short Term Trades and made $16,000. I now hold 5000
Shares of TSLA and will hold on for months, if not
years..........So I could still function with COVID!!

Have you heard of super tasters,.....They are people
who can perceive different tastes better than most
of us, like different wines.
So as you know I have had Covid and I have heard
some who have covid lose their taste buds........SO
I have not been interested in tasting Red wines
since I tested positive but now I have tested
negative so I have tried to taste White wine and a
little red wine and I can say they taste very
intense. So by getting infected with Covid, are my
taste buds more active?
Last night I went down as far as the creek. Wow I
saw some of the Nebbiolo budded over last year and I
see we will have a small crop and then we can make a
Nebbiolo. As some of you may know, very few wineries
have been successful making a Nebbiolo wine. Now in
Italy where they grow Nebbiolo successfully, they
make a wine called Barolo. It is possibly the best
wine made in Italy. I am hopeful that I am going to
make a good Nebbiolo and you can purchase it as 2023
Futures right now.
Wednesday
June 21, 2023 The First Day Of Summer and the
longest day of the year.........
Wow, just back from the Creek, 1/4 mile away. I will
have to clock my travel tomorrow on The Scooter, I
assume it will be less than 3 seconds in My Model
S........
I wish Dri was here to HEAR all the birds down AT
The Creek..........

a second label, Kate, Susie and Bryan made it up.

We have been selling the wine at Oliver's Market a long with
a few other places and it was actually Dave's Cuvee 2018
with a different label. This year we are making another
blend of the Dry Creek Road Red. It will be half 2022 Dave's
Cuvee and half Petit Verdot. We are only selling it to
retailers so not at our winery, Oliver's Market in Sonoma
County only has Pick up. Eventually we will sell some at the
winery.
