9:00 Pm:  As Dri knows I love the birds around here so I understand you want to keep them happy. Dri has two birds and I hope she can make an entry to this diary to explain her passion.

I am having trouble tonight but I still am functioning, especially if I do not close my mouth.......................My big problem is my back tooth on the bottom side. I am in so much pain and I do not have an appoinment until Monday. I have had a lot of alcohol and it has not helped so I found some pills and will try them.

So as you can see I do function with pain. I stayed up until 2:30 the other night listening to Elvis with Gena. We had a great time. My tooth was hurting but not as much as tonight.

New Hampshire has a department which is very serious about shipping wine in to their state.

I am hoping the hydro will kick in. I hate this drug because it makes me sleepy but tonight it is OK.

New Hampshire is committed to track every shipment of wine into their state. They are the only state that asks Fed Ex and UPS to give them information for all wines from out of state into their state including tracking numbers. They have laws that obviously the distributors in their state have encouraged. I have spent about 100 hours to keep them happy over the years. Do I need this........no.............do I want to keep my 8 customers who are Wine Club members happy..........yes.............. so I continue to apply by New Hampshire laws...............Today alone I spent 4 hours.......they are on a power trip

This may be the first time someone has died in a Tesla. It is very sad, especially because we do not know if he committed suicide.................

This link to this story has consumed some of my time today........................Highway 1 on our coast is very scary

so I just got back from an espresso and.......Back a few years ago when I had my partial knee done, I got a prescription for hydrocodone. I used a few then and still have several spored in the frig....... so now it may be kicking in........... so I will probably take one more in an hour or two. I do feel a numbness take on the problem tooth so I may be in bed by 10:30 and read. I am watching college football upstairs..................

tomorrow is another day

Monday January 5, 2015

8:15Pm: What is normal? I have always thought it was Monday, the beginning of the week. Like some of you I thought last Friday was Monday.........long story............but I did a lot of accounting ready for my taxes. I have loved doing my own taxes as I have said before but now it is beneficial, since I have a Corporation, to hire someone who knows how to deal with the IRS. I had to pay over $5000 because I failed to file on time............

So I digress, I have been barely functioning for a week because of my 31 tooth, the furthest back on my bottom side. Number 2 is above. Number 2 scribes down on number 31 and may have caused some problems before. I think for 10 years or more, Number 30 and number 31 has caused me a lot of pain. This is a long story but I should say I have two implants above in 3 and 4, in other words directly above 30 and 31. Seriously take my word for this, unless you pay attention at the dentist office, you have no Idea what I am saying..........

These dentists call teeth by numbers. when we were young we had Wisdom teeth and many of us have had them pulled. Number one on the top right was called number one when it was a wisdom tooth. So I had my number one and then my number 16 in the top theft and also number 17 on the bottom theft and of course number 32 on my bottom right.......................removed when I was young

I love eating food.........I am going on a no carbohydrate diet in a day or so............... I have to get this tooth repaired or do I.

I want to pull this tooth number 31. For over 10 years I have had trouble with this tooth. The dentists (Yes I have Two dentists Now, because one wants to do a root canal).

Long story but I have had 4 root canals I think.............do I want to remember them, not, but the operation is long but with no pain............drugs of course. Two of these root canals failed and I ended up with implants which are great SO why do I need to do a root canal tomorrow if it may fail and I would have to get an implant. Seriously do I need to spend $3000 on a back tooth that I don't need.???? I think I should get this tooth pulled. I do not need number 31..................

Tomorrow I go in for advice from my main dentist...........I am one of the few people who like dentists, I know I am crazy, but they keep me eating............

Tuesday January 6, 2015

I had number 31 pulled today. I am in a lot of pain right now at 3pm but in two hours I will have some tequila. They had to put a plug in the deep whole so I have to eat soft food and avoid the right side of my mouth so I bought some ice cream and thus it looks like my low carb diet will have to wait a week or so. Tonight I will have a ground patty and vegetable.

8:30 Pm: I am alive finally after many months. It is hard to explain and no one around me identities. I am old at 71 so I have now had three teeth removed. It hurts to think I am getting THAAAT old but I am so happy I have this 31 gone.

I am feeling great after some help!!!! I also like an espresso which I have done also..................I am depressed a little since we all have to survive when we are gone.................Joe Cocker died a few days ago and that makes me think about the furure again. Joe Cocker will never be lost in me, a little help from my friends. I will always think of him like I still do with Elvis..............We bottle tomorrow.......................

Time to buy GOOG again?????????????????

Tomorrow we start bottling our 2013 16 month aged wines so that will keep me busy with new wine to taste. It will be fun................

Wednesday January 7, 2015

9:00 Pm: Tomorrow I go off to Santa Rosa with a trip that will take no more than 90 miles so with a charge right now on my Model S, I have 185. These dentists want to see about number 30 because we need this tooth to be strong and help out the implant in slot 31 on the outside of my lower right side.

I will stop off and buy two fresh crabs and have a salad. I would love to have french bread and preferably garlic laced but I am supposed to protect my 31 left whole, which is filled with a plastic plug. These dentists want me to protect this whole where my tooth 31 did exist but I think after this second day I need to eat more interesting meals. I know how to protect this part of my mouth.........

Today we bottled Petite Sirah, Carignan and Barbera. Since I am no fan of Barbera, I declined a bottle BUT I did open tonight: 2012 Green cap Carignan and Petite Sirah.....and of course I had to open 10 month aged Carignan and Petite Sirah, 2013. And of course today we bottled 2013 Carignan and Petite Sirah, aged 16 months.

So I must say it was obvious right away that the 2013 10 month version of Carignan blew away the 16 month version.......so I figured the same result for the Petite Sirah, no way the 16 month was better SO let's try the 2012 green cap, 10 months aged: I thought the Petite Sirah 2012 was the best and then I thought the 2012 Carignan was not as good as the 2013 wines. SOOOOOO

The obvious question is........Do you think I have the same palate as you? My wife Pat seemed to agree with me on these wines tonight, for a big shock to me, we rarely agree on a wine...........BUT the bottom line is as I tasted all the wines after having some air things changed. It will be fun to taste these same wines tomorrow............Remember all wines change with oxidation so are we winemakers trying to make a wine that ages quickly? That is the big question to ask the great winemakers of the world, because they would answer to the negative: They want their wines to age for as long as possible!!! They are ignorant or worse blind to the fact screwcap bottled wines is the best seal.................

I have read in the last two days two studies about different methods to seal wines. Both studies concluded that screwcaps are the best seal but of course there are caveats, questions? One study said the Cabernet in question was not all bad in natural cork. Actually the wine in natural cork tasted more mature. Yes they, who ever they are who prefer corks, even know their wines will not age as long as screwcaps, but they still prefer to go with what the public wants which is natural cork. As all of you know who read this diary, all our wines have been sealed with screwcap since 2003..................

Tomorrow we bottle Block 4 and Escuro........this is hard work..............no

Thursday January 8, 2015

So I have been very busy today. The dentist is another story...........

I did get down to G&G to pick up 6 live crabs. They were fighting all the way to the end, after several minutes in a steaming pot. Pat and I ate more than half of two of them. I love the insides and had some of the body. Pat likes to crack the claws so we make a happy pair. I will give the other 4 crabs to our great help tomorrow.............

We bottled our 2013 16 month Block 4 and Escuro today. I tasted tonight and they are great wines. I thought the 2012 comparisons were mellower as expected and the wines last night (Read Above), were obviously smoother and thus a good way of saying oxidized. All wine oxidizes after air so that is what gives a wine its complexity and thus the wines mystery, how will it age after several months or years.

About this time of year, Pat and I like to see the best pictures of the year. Of course we look at the many categories nominated for Golden Globe which airs this Sunday evening. Tonight we will look at the first half of Boyhood. We will finish it tomorrow and of course I will be glued to the NFL during the day on Saturday and Sunday.........

Tomorrow we bottle Estate Cuvee, My Zin and our Zinfandel from well over 100 year vines. I am ready.........

Friday January 9, 2015

Today we bottled our 2013 16 month aged Estate Cuvee, Zinfandel and My Zin. I was so happy because I finally figured out how to put all these wines into our far left storage building. Below is a picture of what I have so far. Next week I will fill in more places........

My tongue was sliced yesterday at this new dentist who thinks I need to do a root canal on number 30 so after the cut in my tongue I am not impressed with him. It did compromise my tasting last night but I had some revelations tonight:

Last year at this time I still thought the 2011 wines were more fruit forward than the 2012's and now I think the 2013 wines have more character and thus more fruit than the 2012's. The 2012 vintage still needs time and seems to be in the most balance so time will tell. I also was surprised by the Escuro from last night. Both the 2012 and 2013 16 month aged Escuro wines were smoother. I have to look back and see what barrels we used. I have found over the years some of our wines are smoother in our 12 month version so this is surprising. Wine is a mystery. Pat came up one time to see about getting some wine but was very upset, sometimes that happens for various reasons but this time it was because I had too many wines open for the last three days. She said it was hard to choose but mostly she was upset because of the consequence of all the wines. Of course I got upset because this is my life..........I do see her point, there are over twenty wines open.........
